IIIIIIITTTTTTSSSSSSS BAAACCCCKKKK!!!!

Hi people! It’s been a while (a long while – 6 months) since I wrote last, but I’m back by popular request. I know it was horrible for everyone to get up in the morning and run to the computer, only to discover that I hadn’t written a new post and go about depressed for the rest of the day. Well, all your misery is over! I’m back. Just kidding, I’m not that awesome. The only visitors this blog had probably had in those 6 months is people who accidently typed in the wrong web address in the URL bar.

Stuff I’ve done since October:

- Got into the high school I’ve wanted to go to since I was 9.

- Got a gift card for Christmas. Woohoo. (Actually, it was pretty nice of my mom, who gives me $5 a week, to give me $50 to shop at the Gap)

- Grew a few inches. Not that it matters, because, according to my grandma, my cousins have grown another zillion inches since I left Greece.

- Speaking of which, Yiayia (my grandma) visited for a few months. It was great to have her company, because my parents were too grouchy to talk to me most of the time. Going shopping with her didn’t hurt, either. Unlike other frail, tiny grandmas, Yiayia is 5 whole feet (plus four-inch heels) of energy. At 70 years old, she dresses like, is as active as, and looks like someone who’s fifty. Its pretty funny, actually. because whenever she goes to church, she looks so odd talking to all these little old ladies who are her own age, but look three decades older.

- Went to Boston for spring break. It was nice, except for the fact that I went on a boat and threw up, and the weather was as cold as new York in early winter.

- Watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s, starring Audrey Hepburn, and immediately became a fan. She’s one of those people you can’t help admiring.

- Not much else, but I’ll add to the list.

Hi. It’s been a while since I wrote on my blog. I have a lot of schoolwork so I probably won’t be writing much. My birthday was on October 5th. Was it awesome? Did I get a lot of gifts? Did I spend time with family and friends?

No, no and no!

Everyone except my brother and sister were grouchy and grumbling the whole day. My mom was sick, so instead of a cake I got an oversized cupcake. She couldn’t make any frosting, either. It was pretty pathetic.

I got 3 gifts: Some clothes from my mom that were nice but so fancy that the only place I can wear them is church, a journal which I never write in from my sister, and 2 dollars from my brother.

Life is pretty boring. When I have news, I’ll write.

I miss all my coconut friends in Greece. Greece was not boring.

I’m going to flip out. School is starting on Tuesday – yes, this Tuesday – and my hair and skin are a mess, and my outfits are the same old stuff I wore last year. of course, i can’t say that I make enough dough for the fall/spring wardrobe change that is custom among fashionistas. I have my ways though, and will go back to school with a bang. I am also confident that I will do my over-the-summer homework one of these days… whatever. I’ll get around to it eventually. School is less important now next to the test that will determine my future which I brutally study for using Barron’s worksheets every day. I am a wreck. Goodnight.

End of Tennis Camp, Start of Week 2

Sorry that I haven’t written in a while. Well, tennis camp ended. In the end, I ended up making some pretty good friends, both younger and older, and I became one of the better players in the camp when I boosted my skills back up to their former level. I was kind of sad when it ended; now I mostly just sit at home unoccupied. Of course, my parents enjoy filling that time with worksheets and journaling. Yes, still. Eventually I’ll have to do the dreaded over-the-summer homework. I knew I should’ve stayed in Greece.

Days 2 and 3: Not as Bad

Sorry I couldn’t write yesterday. Anyway, days 2 and 3 of tennis camp weren’t as bad as I thought they would be. Yes, I did make some friends (gasp) and yes, I did improve my game enough to get some respect. Despite the fact that my shoes are too tight, I sunburn easily, the sweltering heat of New York summers is torture, and other discomforts, I’ve managed to do pretty well. Well, there’s not much else to say, so I’ll write again when there is.

Tennis Camp…Ugh

So today was the first day of tennis camp. It sucked. It’s not that I don’t like tennis, but that three months of vacation have made me rusty. I used to be really good before I slacked off, and of course the coaches, being used to my skill before I stopped playing, put me in the advanced group. The combination of me being one of the worst in the class due to my lack of practice and that I wasn’t at the camp last week while everyone else was made me an undesirable person to talk to. The result? No new friends. I’m kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place because I want to improve my game, but I am really not enjoying this one bit. And of course, whenever you sign up for classes in any sport, there’s always going to be the “prodigy” who is at the top of the class and thinks the world wasn’t complete until he was born. As if he wasn’t high enough already, he decides to degrade the people around him by insulting their game every opportuntity he gets. This is going to be a long, hard week.

Home Again

Unfortunately, yesterday we flew back home from Greece. I thought I would be glad to be home, but I feel kind of sad. Nothing exciting has happened yet, and I miss my cousins and grandmother.

Stuff that has happened:

-When I first arrived home, the first thing that hit me was that I had to do stupid over-the-summer homework for school.

-We can’t eat in the kitchen because construction guys have ripped off the back of our house and are replacing the whole thing.

-I learned that my high school test practice starts on Sept. 3rd, and school starts on Sept. 9.

-I managed to clean up the junkyard known as my desk, which will very definitely become a mess again.

-Tennis camp starts tomorrow.

Nothing really interesting. Hopefully these weeks before school starts will brighten up a bit or I will be seriously depressed.

Greece

I finally have something to write about! For a month now I have been in Greece and have been having a great time.

Stuff Ive been doing:

Going to the pool at Selianitika

Going to the Aliki beach

Going to psilalonia at night and playing hockey

Hanging out with our cousins

Kicking everyones’s butt at bumper cars

Going shopping

Visiting relatives who enjoy pinching your cheeks

Goofing off

Our cousins are so awesome. We hang out with them almost every day.

For the first half of the month, my dad was in Greece with me and my brother and sister. He would yell a lot (at us and at our grandma), spend a lot of time on his Blackberry, and really wasn’t any help around the house. But he was less strict than our mom ( who came for the second half of the two weeks) and we got to do almost anything we wanted. When my mom and my brother came, there were pleasant and unpleasant changes. We had an extra person to play with (my brother) which was good, and my mom brought her camera and DVDs to kill time in the afternoon, but we also were forced to journal (yes, journal) every night about our day by our mom, and we had a stricter bedtime. Despite all this, we’ve been having a great time. The ocean is actually blue here, unlike the gray water back home.

It’s been really fun, but we’re only staying 6 more days. I miss my friends back home and stuff, but here it’s so much awesomer. And when I get home, I have to start preparing for a certain test in October that will determine my future. Blah.
